September 15th "Fall Fever"

Break out your medium heavy outfits and prepare for some seriously large redfish action! Fall marks the beginning of the redfish spawn when the big boys mix in on the flats with their smaller kin. These fish will be in excess of 12pds!!! They provide some awesome drag screaming fun but make sure you take the time to fully revive them upon release. The big snook will be out and hungry as well hanging under mangroves and downed trees around the passes. My good friend and fellow guide Capt. Tim White and I found this out on a recent scouting trip. As far as other best bets this month the cobia are still in good numbers and you can target sharks on just about any flat in the harbor. Enjoy this beautiful time of year and have some fun.

June 1st "Red Hot Summer Days"

This month has already proven to be hotter than previous years in the mid-day hours. The bite has been best on the the faster parts of the tide in either direction. Here Jimmy from New York samples some of our awesome inshore action. The bushes on the east and west walls have been holding some great redfish action and usually when you find one fish there are a few more hiding under there. The snook bite has been steady as well and even though the season is on hold, it is still some awesome catch and release fishing. The live threadfins have been everywhere and make for the best snook bait under those bushes and in those cuts.
Tarpon are all over the harbor holes in the evening and of course the Boca Grande Pass is always a for sure bet. Try drifting live threadfins or pass crabs under a float. Cobia are still showing in great numbers as well as the sharks. If you do get out be prepared for the intense heat and rain that will soon be a constant.

May 1st "Silver Kings and the Breath of Summer"

The cold fronts are pretty much a thing of the past this time of year as to are the negative low tides. This is the time of year when I keep the cast net on the boat ready to load up on some awesome live bait action!!! The transition into summer has the snook and redfish feeding aggressive all over the flats. The higher tides give them a great shady place to roost under those mangrove shorelines as Bobby from Port Charlotte found out!
Live baitin' the East and West Walls of the harbor can make for some fantastic fishing. Cobia are cruising with the stingrays just waiting for a nice fresh bait to drop in front of them as Bobby also found out sightcasting to this 22 pounder!

The tarpon are way up in both the Peace and Myakka River systems as well as the deeper holes in Charlotte Harbor. Boca Grande Pass has been filling up fast with these silver beasts. Trout are still biting decent in the mornings from 1'-5' of water and the sharks are pretty much anywhere you go right now. Tarpon of course is the big focus over these next few months but there is plenty of other action as well.
